What is Skilled Nursing?
The term skilled nursing care refers to the highest level of medical attention provided by licensed health professionals, such as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), and certified nursing assistant (CNA).
The task of a skilled nurse will be to provide the children with the medical care and developmental training they need to function on a day-to-day basis as well as lead happy, healthy lives. We have nurses who can assume responsibilities for different types and levels of special needs. We offer a wide range of services at Happy Kids PPEC, including intravenous therapy, injections, monitoring of vital signs, and more. Children who have to receive a high level of care on a constant or frequent basis as a result of chronic medical conditions may benefit from these services over the long term.
The skilled nursing staff at our hospital has extensive experience treating and managing a variety of conditions, such as:
- Intravenous (IV) therapy
- Injections
- Monitoring of vital signs
- Diabetes management and treatment (Dexcom and Libre glucose monitoring)
- Seizure disorders
- Treatment and management of cerebral palsy
- Gastric tube feedings and total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
- Respiratory and cardiac conditions such as asthma exacerbation
- Chromosomal conditions, such as Down syndrome
- Developmental Delays and Brain disorders, including childhood stroke, to name a few
Staff at Happy Kids PPEC believe that interacting with children’s families is essential to teaching them the necessary skills to take care of and interact with their loved ones. To become a big part of each child’s life, our nurses strive to form strong bonds with their families. Since nurses communicate with each child, their families, doctors of different specialties, and other caregivers at our center, communication skills are extremely important. A Medical Director and a Director of Nursing guide our highly trained staff in providing medical care for children facing complex illnesses.
