PPEC stands for Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care. A PPEC center that allows Medicaid-eligible children from birth through age 21 with medically-complex conditions to receive continual medical care in a non-residential setting. A PPEC is a pediatric medical daycare for children with special needs. Happy Kids PPEC provides services that are covered by Medicaid and administered by our qualified pediatric medical staff.Rather than expensive hospitalization or home health care, these services offer a more cost-effective alternative. Through these programs, children become less isolated, enabling them to achieve a higher quality of life.
Happy Kids PPEC accepts Medicaid. We work with most major private insurances, subject to plan benefits for PPEC and private pay. Our knowledgeable staff handles all required paperwork. We work with each child’s physician to obtain orders, create a detailed plan of care and secure insurance authorization.
Any child from birth to 21 years old who requires nursing care and has a medically fragile or complex diagnosis is qualified for the PPEC program. A child who requires nursing care every day and whose needs cannot be met by a typical school or day care and/or does not require hospitalization. For example, children with asthma or seizures who have been hospitalized or visited the ER frequently.

As part of Happy Kids PPEC, the family is incorporated into the plan of care (POC) to assist in gaining the confidence the child needs to be able to integrate into family life. In order to foster a unique care ecosystem, Happy Kids PPEC has a strong team including a pediatrician, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and behavioral therapists.
Transportation services are provided to and from to/from wherever the child is located on that day, or to/from the child’s home/base location. This service is 100% covered through Medicaid and free of charge to parents. Children are also accompanied by a trained Staff member.
Happy Kids provides Skilled Nursing Care, Behavioral therapy, Occupational therapy, Physical therapy, Respiratory therapy, and Speech therapy.
